Those who have a 'why' to live, can bear with almost any 'how.'
Joy's first destination in Austria's capital of Vienna was not the world famous State Opera House, but an everyday hospital. Tony was studying abroad there in Austria while she was in Germany and his appendix burst. She got on the first train east upon hearing the news. Besides the unexpected tight security at the hospital gates and throwback-to-the-1950s nurses who scurried about inside the hospital halls in their classic white coifs, Joy remembers a festive Halloween where she dressed up as a cat and partied like it was 1999, because it was! She also remembers a lunch in the small dorm-like kitchen where she listened attentively to one of the roommates, Stacy, a devote evangelist in the making who packed a mean turkey sandwich.
