On Portugal

Joy went to Portugal to visit Lidia's family while on school break during her junior year abroad in college in Germany. Porto is where Joy first met Lidia's father, a wise and generous old man with bright blue eyes. He welcomed her into his home with open arms. Joy did not need to speak fluent Portuguese to understand this man. He had a strong presence, bless his soul, which put her at ease and made her feel right at home. His wife, Lidia's stepmom, was a hard worker. She had a habit of saying "é vida." meaning "That's life." that invited storytelling over pastéis de bacalhau.

Meeting Arlette and her daughter, Andrea, in Lisbon was a pure treat. Arlette, like her sister, Lidia, is warm and outgoing. They ate and danced to thier hearts content!

Been there, done that?
